Government Has Not Made Final Decision

KUALA LUMPUR - The government has not made a final decision on the Lynas Advance Materials Plant Project and will not do so until it is fully satisfied that the plant will be safe, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The prime minister said this was to ensure that the people would not feel that anything untoward would happen to them, including in the long term.

"We have to go through the process of convincing the people that the plant will be safe," he said during a one-hour chat with members of the public via the NST Live Chat Session on the NST website, here, today.

Najib was asked whether the government has made a decision on the Lynas issue since it had announced three weeks ago that it would be made in two weeks' time.

Last month, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said a decision on the appeal by three individuals against the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant's temporary operating licence (TOL) would be made in two weeks' time.

Ongkili said he went through the 14 submissions raised as the basis of their appeal, but needed more time to consult related experts and authorities before making a decision.

Najib also was not spared questions on the general election date and, in reply, he said he was looking at all possibilities before making a decision.

He said the government would continue its engagement with the urban voters, including the Chinese voters.

"They have to understand that their future will be better with the Barisan Nasional as we can ensure peace, stability, harmony and a more prosperous society.

"The major difference is that the degree of certainty with regard to our ability to deliver is much greater," he said.

  1. THAT'S WHY WE MUST NOT ALLOW PEOPLE WITH EVIL INTENTIONS TO DESTROY THIS COUNTRY BY FILLING UP THE MINDS OF OUR POLITICIANS AND LEADERS WITH ABSOLUTE FILTHY GARBAGE.

ALL THOSE MALAYSIANS WHO STILL HAVE AN INTACT SPINE SHOULD STAND UP AND BE COUNTED TO FIGHT AGAINST THIS EVIL FORCE!

IF WE DO NOT DOUBLE OUR EFFORTS, THEY MAY WIN AND THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY OF OURS WILL BE DESTROYED.

MAY GOD BLESS THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.

  2. According to a reader, in western societies, RED = DANGER, RED = STOP

PRIMODIAL INSTINCT: WHEN YOUR COMPETITOR TURNS RED WITH ANGER, YOU SEE DANGER, STOP COMPETING, TURN PALE WITH FEAR, GREEN WITH NAUSEA, VOMIT OUT YOUR STOMACH CONTENTS TO LIGHTEN YOUR WEIGHT AND RUN LIKE HELL FOR YOUR LIFE!
IF YOU WANT TO WIN, USE RED !
DO NOT USE GREEN, GREEN IS A COLOR OF PEACE, SERENITY AND RELAXATION, NOT FOR COMPETITION!

It is a well known fact that in any highly competitive sport like football, where the two teams are equally matched, the one wearing red has a much better chance of winning.

This use of the right colour is well seen in an even more competitive sport i.e. Formula 1 race where the cars are separated by hundredths of a second.

Remember when Honda was in the race with their green car.

They seemed to go nowhere in spite of the fact that Honda had a technically superior car.
But when it was sold and the name changed to Brawn GP Formula 1 Team and has a red coloured “VIRGIN” painted on the car, the same car driven by Jenson Button won the drivers as well as the constructors championship!

The same thing happened to Jaguar. They have a great car and a great team, but their car was painted a beautiful green and they were always in trouble.

After their company was sold and renamed Red Bull with all the red inscriptions, they became the champions.

Red appears to have a slight edge. Green is a colour of peace and is also a rather relaxing colour but we do not want our sportsmen and women to be relaxing peacefully while in competition.

Although red gives only a TINY ADVANTAGE , in a game like football or badminton (OR EVEN IN THE HIGHLY COMPETITIVE BUSINESSES OF TODAY) if both sides are equally good, that tiny advantage can mean a win or a loss.

    Quote: Robert Roy Britt
"A new study of Olympic athletes finds that those wearing red have an advantage over blue-suited competitors.

The reason may have to do with hard-wired perceptions in the human brain that date back to more animalistic times, researchers say.

In the study, scientists examined one-on-one sports in the 2004 Olympics in which competitors were randomly assigned red or blue outfits or protective gear. The events: boxing, tae kwon do, Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling.

In 16 of 21 rounds there were more red-clad winners. Looked at a different way, red prevailed in 19 of 29 weight classes. The researchers are careful to point out that the effect is probably subtle, such that red can be a deciding factor only among evenly matched competitors.

"We find that wearing red is consistently associated with higher probability of winning," University of Durham researchers Russell Hill and Robert Barton write in the May 19 issue of the journal Nature.

Hill and Barton also analyzed the Euro 2004 international soccer tournament, in which teams wore shirts of different colors in different matches. The preliminary results of that investigation suggest a similar advantage for red in team sports." Unquote

Examples of Successful Companies and Countries using RED = COCA COLA, KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN, Mc DONALD, AIR ASIA, FERRARI and TURKEY..

Example of accident prone Companies and Countries using GREEN = BP and Ireland.
